Alanthony. The world's most incredible waiter. Thank you for the great service! Come here early. If you don't, you'll have to wait an hour or more. I will start with the bad: it is extremely busy, and it feels rushed. Not the kind of place to have a leisurely dinner. The pace is frenetic, and everybody looks very stressed out. It also appears that there aren't all that many locals: lots of Americans, people from Asia, etc... This is one of the best meals I've had in a very long time: every single thing we ordered on the menu was delicious. They specialize in this sort of dish where you order a hot or cold meat, fish, or vegetable, and they put it on a very thinly sliced, baked baguette. Ranges from 2 to 5 euros. Then, they have larger dishes as well. Cuts of meat, grilled seafood, lots of different meats and vegetables that are all small plates. I was extremely impressed. I would totally come back here, but this is our last night in Barcelona so I am sad.

This place is famous. This place is in the heart of the action. They treat you well. The food is great. Best Sangria ever. Why not 5 stars? It is a victim of success. Expect to wait for a seat. Expect things to be sold out (limited selection). Expect crowds. But I liked everything they served.

We absolutely loved our meal here! I understand why it's so popular. I came by Sunday afternoon around 1:30 and there was a massive group of people standing outside. I asked around, and it turns out you have to put your name down with the hostess, and she'll call your name when your table is ready. I was expecting a super long wait, but she estimated a wait time of 15-20 minutes, which turned out to be pretty accurate. It's a big restaurant and they're pretty quick about getting the food out to you, so I guess the wait isn't as bad as it looks. We started with drinks, a small beer for him for 2.75€ and a cup of sangria for me for 5.50€. Both were delicious, though I felt the sangria was light on wine. Their food menu is consists of 2 parts: permanent items and a large selection of rotating daily items. Everything on the menu looked amazing, but sadly we were just two people and were limited in what we could order. From their bestsellers menu, we tried the beef tenderloin montadito with foie (7.15€), prawns skewer mantadito (5.40€), and the "Cabreaos" style eggs (6.95€). From the daily menu, we tried the lobster rice (9.50€), potato omelette with onion and mushroom (5.50€), and the grilled seafood platter (11€). For dessert, we had the torrija (3.35€) and coconut pudding (3.35€). The standouts for me were definitely the beef tenderloin montadito with foie and the two desserts. The beef was super soft and tender and paired perfectly with the giant chunk of foie gras on top. And I was absolutely obsessed with the torrija, which was a bit similar to french toast but with more custard, so much so that I had torrija two more times in Barcelona before we left Spain. Literally every bite of both desserts had us going WOW!! The "Cabreaos" style eggs were also very interesting. It's essentially thin french fries served with eggs over easy on top along with some sauce, and they mix it in front of you. Would definitely recommend this as well. Everything else was also really good, but rice is rice and grilled seafood is grilled seafood. Nothing super exciting, but everything was fresh and well executed here.

Yelpers did not steer me wrong. Omg, so visiting Barcelona for the first time, and being a huge foody, I decided to Yelp my way through all my meals. I found this place on Yelp showing the food was good and the prices were reasonable, so I decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. I ordered all the top dishes I saw on Yelp, the Prawns, the Beef Tenderloin with Duck Foie Gras, the Seafood Mix Dish and Churros. All the dishes tasted amazing. This is why I ALWAYS use Yelp when I travel. Thank you Yelpers!

Holy cow --- this place is good. I'm talking Michelin star food quality and service. Hopefully this intro will help cut to the chase in your lunch or dinner indecisiveness! We've eaten in about 20 bodegas in the course of the week and this one blew me away for the service, value for quality & also great location. (proximal to basilica de la sagrata familia)

Cerveseria Catalana is one of those bustling tapas spots in Barcelona that always seems to be lively, and for good reason. With a mix of classic Spanish tapas and a few unexpected delights, it's a go-to for both locals and tourists alike. Be prepared for a line and a swarm of tourists--the place is incredibly popular. In fact, it might be the most touristy place there could ever be, but dining here is as essential as visiting La Sagrada Familia or Gaudí's houses. The service is impressively fast, so you should find yourself seated within 15-20 minutes. We started with the Beef Tenderloin Montadito, and it set the tone beautifully--a perfect bite of tender beef topped on crispy bread, with just the right balance of flavors to wake up our taste buds. The Spanish Omelette (Tortilla Española) here is a great example of what this dish should be. Creamy inside, with the potatoes cooked to a soft perfection, it was comforting and satisfying without being too heavy. It's exactly the kind of dish that reminds you why Spain is famous for simple yet flavorful food. Next up were the Razor Clams. These were fresh, with a beautiful sear, and just the right amount of garlic and parsley. They had that light ocean brine taste that makes seafood so appealing, and they weren't overly chewy--just tender enough. The Grilled Prawns were another highlight--plump, smoky from the grill, and juicy. They arrived perfectly seasoned, with that char that makes you want to savor each bite. Peeling them is worth the effort, as the flavor was outstanding. However, the standout dish of the evening had to be the Eggs Cabreado Style. Essentially a Spanish take on loaded fries, it came with crispy potatoes, a perfectly fried egg on top, and a drizzle of brava sauce. When mixed together, it's a comforting mess of savory goodness--crispy, creamy, and just indulgent enough to leave a lasting impression. It's the kind of dish that makes you want to come back for more. As a bonus, the Pan con Tomate is a simple yet delicious classic that pairs well with just about anything else you order. The crispy bread rubbed with fresh tomatoes, a drizzle of good olive oil, and a sprinkle of salt is one of those quintessential Catalan bites that you just can't skip. To end on a sweet note, we tried the Carrot Cake. While it's not necessarily what you'd expect in a Spanish tapas bar, it was a pleasant surprise. Moist, with a nice spice to it and a creamy frosting, it wrapped up the meal in a delightful way.

Place is great and food is delish. Tapas and more. Definitely bar food and more! The standard tapas fare like papas bravas, croquet, brochetas, jamon ibiricos, salads, goood deserts like the Xurros amb Xocolata (churros and chocolate), crema Catalana and sooo much more. Drinks galore too! Worthy of a repeat performance. And not to mention great service from Ruel and Dennis. And the place is humming well, service fast, and great attitude.

There is definitely a difference between great tapas versus mediocre tapas. I have had similar dishes at other tapas bars and the tapas here are just much better. For example, their huevos cabreados (literally meaning "angry eggs") is the best I have had in Barcelona. It is fried eggs served on top of a bed of fries and sprinkled with a spicy red oil. While others just have some runny eggs over soggy fries, the version here has eggs-over-easy on crispy straw fries with a flavorful creamy sauce drizzled throughout. Their montaditos are also amazing. Flavorful meats and seafood sit on a small toasty baguette slice. I especially liked the shrimp skewer montadito. Best of all, each tapas dish was only around €5, as tapas should be. When you are ready to pay, take the little piece of paper that your server scribbled on and bring it to the cashier at the front. Do not wait until your server comes to give you a check -- it will not happen. He or she is not coming back. Note: Cerveseria Catalana shares the same owner as Ciutat Comtal and Vinitus, and the menus are nearly identical.
